We have been having some rather chilly weather here in Texas! It is the perfect time to dust off my scarfs and head to Starbucks. However, there is only so much cold I can handle. My favorite thing to do on these days is cozy up with my family, make some soup, and watch a movie.

In home sessions remind me of the comfort of these chilly days and this one is a personal favorite from the fall. The Phillips family is used to the cold weather, but the warmth of their home was so special.

I love that kitchen and their willingness to simply be who they are in their home. Let's be honest, most of us spend a lot of time in the kitchen, it is, in my opinion, the true heart of a home. As a photographer, I could not help but appreciate that natural light. As a wife and mother, I could not help but appreciate the unconditional love that this family had for one another.

Stay warm everyone!

The end of the year invites reflection. As I look back on the year, I think about how much I have grown as an artist. I also think about how influential these shoots have been to my work. I have interacted with so many couples and families this year and am honored that they would trust me to capture these moments.

Alan Watts claims that "No valid plans for the future can be made by those who have no capacity to live for now". My work this year has challenged me to be present and to capture moments that might otherwise be fleeting.

These are some of my favorites from this year because they remind me that there is so much beauty in life, even when we least expect it.

My goal for this coming year is to find more opportunities for growth and I would love for you to be a part of it. What moments do you want to capture? How can you and I find a way to be present and make amazing memories?

Let me know, I would to hear from you.

While I aim to make most of my sessions this personal, this Christmas session was a one I will always remember. My sweet brother and his lovely family have a way of reminding me what patience and love actually looks like. Their session was filled with ease and laughter. It perfectly captured that feeling of acceptance and stability that we all look for around the holidays. And of course, who can resist my adorable niece with her cute curls and her gorgeous mama.

My aim with this session was to capture the comfort of family. You know what  I mean, right? That moment when we all sit around and laugh about the crazy things our kids do? Or when we reminisce about the love our brother once had for Paula Abdul?

It is my hope that you truly find moments to laugh and opportunities to love this holiday season. I must say, that I what I truly want for you is to find a moment of peace and appreciation for all of those that surround you.
