Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions? I have some answers...

I have written an entire blog post dedicated to that here, but in a nutshell... My style, as you have seen while browsing through my website, is a mix between lifestyle and posed photography. I will try to capture many photos of my subjects interacting, having fun, walking around, etc. Additionally, I will spend some time on posed photography to get an interesting, yet more traditional family photo. If you want something else, feel free to ask! Your input is essential to a successful photo shoot.

What if I feel uneasy in front of the camera?

I know very few people who don't feel this way. You're so not alone. I'm truly understanding of this feeling so I'm passionate about making you feel completely comfortable around me and in front of my camera. I just need you to be yourself, don't stress about it or take yourself too seriously, and come with a good attitude. That's it. There's no way in hell that won't look beautiful. Then leave the rest to me. I do have some tips on what to expect and what to wear, sometimes it helps to feel prepared, but seriously don't worry!

When can I expect my images?

For portrait and lifestyle sessions, the turnaround time is 2-3 weeks. For weddings allow up to 6 weeks.

Can I print your images?

Definitely! You are able to download all of the images from your session which includes a print release. It's tempting to rush to your local drugstore to print them quickly but I urge you to please not do that! Use a professional printing company to ensure accurate colors and all that great quality you initially invested in. You can order them through me in the same place that you downloaded your images or I can point you in the right direction. My print lab has been hand picked my me and is of superior quality (and its affordable).

What rights do I have to the digital FILES?

You have the right to reprint images whenever you want. However you may not sell your images for profit or publish your images without the written consent of  Kristen Giles Photography.

Do you backup our images? Will they be available for ordering in the future?

Yes! All of your images are backed up both in my office and int he cloud. Your images are archived in my system for 2 years. After 2 years, they will go to another backup system, and if you would like them recovered after the 2 years, there is a $50 retrieval fee.

What kind of gear do you use?

I photograph with a Nikon D800 with many different lenses depending on the session. I also have a Nikon SB910 off camera lighting system that I use occasionally.

Do my kids have to behave perfectly?

Not at all, in fact, I'd prefer it if they didn't. Seriously. Let them do what they will. It's not a lot of fun for a kid to meet someone new and have them point a huge camera in their face while they're being forced to stand still. That wouldn't fly with my kids so I certainly don't expect it of yours. I value playing around with your kids, talking to them, and seeing what kinds of things they enjoy. I give them space when they need it. You may feel like we couldn't possibly be capturing anything great but you'll be pleasantly surprised that, not only did we get the standard shots you expect, we also captured their fun personalities. And they enjoyed their time, too!

Can you assist me with my wedding schedule?

Absolutely! I can help you figure out how much time we'll need for each event and at what hour of the day the lighting is best for each situation. I'm more than happy to help.
